I gave the ipe deck a fresh coat of oil this weekend. After the recent heavy rains, it left some mysterious white deposits – I was able to sand it off but left a mess.  This area also gets a lot of sun, so I have to oil it more frequently than the engawa. This time I waited almost 6 months. The first year, it was oiled more frequently. In theory as the oil gets absorbed into the fibers, you have to oil it less frequently.
