Faroe Islands – Day 4 (Hanging Lake)

Day 4 opened with clear skies and a promising weather forecast. Taking advantage of the good conditions, we decided to hike along Lake Sørvágsvatnk, the lake hanging over the ocean. After breakfast, we drove back to Vágar Island and paid the 200 DKK ($30) per person hiking fee. The trail was mostly flat until the final climb up a cliff, the payoff was breathtaking views.

After the hanging lake, we made our way to Gjógv on the northern tip of Eysturoy island, where we’ll be staying for the next two nights. We had dinner at the hotel, Gjáargarður Guesthouse. There is no other option within reasonable driving distance. The roasted lamb was delicious.
