Kyoto Kamogawa Stay

After our stay in Arashiyama, we rented a machiya (traditional wooden townhouse) in central Kyoto along the Kamogawa River (鴨川) and Takase canal (高瀬川) for a few days. A great locations with many nearby restaurants.

During the summer months, restaurants along the Kamo river setup raised platforms where diners can enjoy the summer breeze. There restaurants sandwiched our machiya but noise was never an issue – Kyoto was under an pandemic emergency declaration and restaurants were asked to close by 8pm and not serve any alcohol.
