Hoping to see some foliage, we headed to Zao Onsen (蔵王温泉). We were about a week late. The day started with the mountain tops socked in, so we decided to head down the mountain and visit Yamadera (山寺). We made our way up the 1,015 steps to the temple’s main hall enjoying the foliage along the way.
