For two springs running, we’ve taken a workations in Japan’s Hida region. This second spring brought us to bustling Hida Takayama, a city very popular with tourists and filled with coffee shops and restaurants.

When we arrived, the cherry blossoms had yet to bloom, but they reached full bloom just in time for the Takayama Spring Festival. During our stay, we watched the cherry blossoms quickly cycle through their stages: from bloom to petal storm to a pink carpet covering the ground.

We made several day trips, including visits to Shirakawa-go, Hida Furukawa, Kamioka, and the Gattan-go rail bike course.
