Shiretoko Peninsula (知床)

From Hakodate, we took a train to one of the remotest regions of Japan, the Shiretoko Peninsula. Shiretoko is a national park and home to the Japanese Black Bear. During peak bear activity (May thru July), a guide is required for the nature trails.

We made to Sapporo before heading back to Tokyo.
