While in Nagoya we visited our favorite Sukiyaki restaurant in the Sakae area. The first floor is a meat shop and the second floor is the restaurant. The meat for Sukiyaki is Wagyu Kobe beef or Japanese bred Kobe beef. The so-called Kobe beef you get in the US is no where near the quality of Wagyu Kobe beef. Some restaurants in the US do serve Wagyu Kobe beef, but its really expensive ($100 for a very small steak). Wagyu Kobe beef simply melts in your mouth…the first time you eat it, it will redefine your definition of beef.
