Hayao Miyazaki was in San Diego this week for Comic-Con in a panel discussion with Pixar’s John Lasseter. He rarely comes to the US since he views American culture as not being very helpful to the world, but was coaxed by John Lasseter. I didn’t know about his visit till I saw this NY Times article, and slideshow. NY Times had also published an article earlier this month about his pending visit – no mention in the local San Diego media about this. You view the video of the panel discussion here.
We haven’t been to Comic-Con in a couple of years. Maybe next year. Every year there is a bigger array of stars. This year included Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, Robert Downey Jr, Denzel Washington, Peter Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Cameron Diaz, and James Cameron previewing his first movie since Titanic.
Scarlett Johansson and Cameron Diaz, Darn! I wonder what Hayao had for dinner the night…
