Bow Valley, Banff

We woke up to showers but the forecast called for some sun later in the day. We decided to stick close to the town of Banff and did a few short hikes around Bow Valley – Banff town is located on the Bow River in Bow Valley.

Hoodoos (nothing compared to Utah’s Bryce Canyon – but the backdrop is spectacular).

Upper Hot Spring – too crowded for our tastes.

Cave and Basin – a former hot springs closed to protect the endangered Banff Snail – looked like a great place for a hot soak.

The Cave and Basin Marsh Loop trail – a pretty marsh along the Bow River.
