The Whistler Peak 2 Peak gondola opened last year and it makes it more reasonable to ski some runs on Blackcomb and then some runs on Whistler. Previously you had to ski down to the base (or download from mid-mountain depending on the conditions), then take the gondola up to Whistler mid-mountain (a 20 minute ride). Now all you have to do is get on the Peak 2 Peak gondola for a beautiful panoramic 11 minute ride. Its not scary – I think because the scale is just so big that the 1400 feet drop to the valley floor doesn’t seem that bad, although one of the poles holding up the Blackcomb gondola snapped last year right before the Peak 2 Peak gondola opened (luckily nobody died).
Our first trip on the gondola happened to be the only one with a glass bottom.
We had several good days of skiing with occasional pea soup situations. One regret, I didn’t get to ski Spanky’s this visit:
Really inspiring blog you have!
May I ask what camera you’re using? I really like the effect on picture 4 and 9.
Thank you very much!
